Through no fault of her own, this charming little two year old had found herself alone, tied up in a back yard. Adrie's Foster Mom has been working with her; she's house trained, crate trained and has basic obedience skills. A bit taller than the average Basset, Adrie is an amazing girl who enjoys the company of other dogs. She would be a lovely addition to your pack!
Rosie and her Labrador friend spent their entire lives outdoors, until her friend died. She became very sad, (being alone, outdoors 24/7) and thankfully she was surrendered to UFBH. We can only imagine how scary it was being alone outside, day and night. When this sweet 10 year old gal first meets new people she is very timid. It takes just a bit of time for her to warm up to you and then she quickly becomes one of the most loving Basset Hounds you’ll ever meet. Rosie could be eligible for our Forever Foster Program.
This little charmer is a "Basset Blend." He definitely has Basset Hound in him and maybe a little Golden Retriever in those beautiful eyes. Impossible to know who his Mom and Dad were as he came to UFBH from a shelter. Dudley is 35 pounds and nine months old; he's not any where near finished growing! Dudley would be happiest with an experienced dog person.
Who's as cool as a Basset Hound..but a little taller, and possibly a bit more obedient? Bassadors or, Labassets if you prefer! We have three of them! In honor of Dr Seuss, they have been named Puppy One, Puppy Two and we even have a Puppy Three. Trust us when we say, they can get into just as much trouble as Dr Seuss' Thing One & Thing Two! They're vaccinated and will be spayed and neutered before going to their Forever Homes.
Eva came to UFBH with her puppies. She's a playful girl who can easily keep up with those youngsters, too. She loves toys! Eva is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle and will keep your feet warm at night if you let her. Eva is heartworm positive so her adoption will only be official and final after treatment is complete.

Two year old Macy and her "sister, Stella get pretty wound up when playing with each other. More often than not, Macy initiates play and can be a little on the rough side; all in fun though and they do play very well together. Macy also goes to daycare and has done very well there. She does like some lap/people time but also likes to be outside playing. She will need a place where she can get outside into the yard. Macy is bonded to Stella and they would very much like to be adopted together.
The quiet one of a bonded pair, Stella can get just as wound up as her "sister" Macy when playing. She goes to daycare and has not had any problems there with other dogs. Stella has not been demanding of lap time or people time. This five year old beauty very much likes to be outside and will need a home where she can get out in the yard as much as she likes. Stella is bonded to Macy and they would very much like to be adopted together.
Herman is a very busy puppy! He's not particularly destructive but he is very playful. He would love a doggie playmate around the same age and activity level. He needs some gentle guidance on house manners and is eager to please.
This little six year old guy is just a sweetheart! Emmett is mellow and he is also well behaved. He loves to play with the other dogs and would definitely do best in a home with another dog. Not demanding in his Foster Home of lap time or attention, he would easily fit into a home with more than one other dog as well. (Emmett is protective of food and must be fed separately so that he feels safe.)
Banjo is still a youngster that would like very much to play. He's a little timid but with every trip to daycare, he comes out of his shell just a little bit more. Banjo loves to cuddle but is just a little unsure of whether if it's okay to be that close. He behaves as though he never got to be a puppy and so he doesn't know exactly what to do. Banjo needs a patient guardian that will help him build confidence.
Pumpkin (on the right) and Lulu are an inseparable pair. They are very sweet and affectionate. They do like to climb and can often be found on the back of the couch or on the end table or even the dining table or counter if a chair is left a little too close. They are easy to tell apart when standing close together since Pumpkin is just a little lighter than Lulu. Otherwise, you might think they were twins! They enjoy going to daycare and get along with the other dogs just fine. They also enjoy lap time with their humans. Pumpkin (1044) and Lulu (1043) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
What's better than one sweet red and white Basset Hound? Well, two sweet red and white Basset Hounds, of course! Lulu (on the left) and her pal, Pumpkin, came to us from from a family who could no longer care for them. Affectionately called the "Red Heads," they are totally bonded to each other. They get along just fine with other dogs but when all is said and done, you'll find them each together. Lulu (1043) and Pumpkin (1044) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
George is still trying to figure out what's going on. He is loving and enjoys a cuddle but doesn't demand much time. He enjoys daycare but sometimes decides that he doesn't want to go. Most days, he would prefer to lounge around rather than get involved with any playing that is going on between the other dogs. George is a laid back fella and blends into the pack.
Calvin is a very quiet basset. He would prefer to lounge rather than rough house but does play some. We suspect he just hasn't found the right playmate, yet. Calvin got to hang out at his foster mom's office one day and he was just perfect! He found a quiet place to curl up and no one heard a peep out of him!
This eight year old sweetheart was quite sad after her person went into a care facility. She has settled nicely into her Foster Home. Fortunately, her Foster Mom loves to walk; the Border Collie in her loves to walk, too. Her girlish figure should return soon, having put on a few too many pounds before coming back to us.
What a sweetheart," her Foster Mom tells us, "and she loves to cuddle;" although, it does take her a minute or two longer to warm up to some men. Dolly and Molly had originally not been adopted together but they did spend a few years living together before they were both surrendered to UFBH. They're not especially good friends and will do fine without each other but Dolly would still do best and be happiest in a home with another dog. She'll make lovely addition to your family!
Charlie is an outgoing and friendly dog. He goes to daycare and does very well with the other dogs. He likes to rough house and can be pretty rowdy with just a little encouragement from the right playmate. He has a dry eye condition that will require eye drops for the rest of his life.
Just because this sweet old gentleman has very short legs and is totally blind--well, let's just say he's anything but short on personality! Gordo lost both his eyes to glaucoma but like any scent hound with good hearing, he's not missed more than a step or two finding his way around. It may take him a little time to find the doggie door but he will definitely use it once it's located. If you've been thinking about adding a Senior to your pack, he's your guy!
This playful little Bassador is still very much a puppy. Honey Bear is energetic and loving and loves belly rubs and cuddling. She gets along very well with other dogs; we’re not sure about cats but it’s likely she’ll love them, too! Honey Bear is house trained to use a doggie door but she’ll need some help with her manners and basic obedience training to help her as she grows up and be a wonderful addition to your family.
Meet four year old Lola! She is an energetic little girl who plays well with other dogs after taking a few minutes to warm up to them. A great lap dog and cuddler, she often prefers to be with her people. Her Foster Mom tells us, "Lola gets a little excited when we first come home and does some jumping up, but stops when she's asked."
Truly one of the most mellow Basset Hounds you'll ever meet, Rocky is also a very good boy. A handsome guy; although not big on having his picture taken! Rocky has spent the last few years with Holly and we'll not split them up. It's a joy to watch how devoted they are to each other. They're staying in a group foster home and so would be fine with pets you may already have in your home with you. Rocky and Holly (0536) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
If you've fallen in love with this doll just by looking at her, you're in for a wonderful surprise! Holly has a friend she'll be bringing along to her new home. Holly and Rocky were surrendered to UFBH as a very bonded pair. It was very difficult for them to leave their previous family but they still have each other. Much like her best friend, Rocky, she's very laid back. It does take her a bit longer than Rocky to warm up to new people but it's worth the extra bit of time it will take for her to make friends with you. These two will add double the love to your home! Holly and Rocky (0537) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
Quite the puppy, Murphy is a busy guy and will need some training to direct his keen curiosity. A quick study, he likes to please and really enjoys being with his people (including sleeping with them or very near by). Murphy does well with other dogs and people. We feel he would be happiest living in a home with another dog. He is house trained to use a dog door.
Lucy is lovingly referred to as a “velcro girl.” A bit timid at first but once she becomes comfortable with you, she’ll follow you anywhere--all day long. Loud noises can be scary until she gets used to her new surroundings. Lucy loves to cuddle and really likes to have her belly rubbed--often and for long periods of time! This sweet little girl would probably like to be an only dog but may also be okay with another dog in the home. We are not sure how she is with cats. Lucy can become a bit anxious when left alone. She is house trained to use a doggie door. With a little patience and love, Lucy could easily become your best friend! Our trainer/behaviorist will be available to help you to help Lucy settle into your home.
This charming little guy spent his first few years in a "puppy mill" situation so he'll err on the side of caution when meeting new people. As soon as he sees you're cool, then he's cool, too! Wrigley also enjoys other dogs and gets along with everyone at daycare. He's not very much for cuddling but will make a great walking companion. Wrigley is truly a very loving dog.
Opal is every bit as sweet as she looks…and then some! She gets along very well with other dogs and all the people she’s met at "Meet and Greets." This charming, little five year old is rather quiet and laid back. We’re pretty sure Opal is holding back on the snuggling until she finds her Forever Family. Although she interacts with the several other hounds in her foster home, we think Opal’s a bit overwhelmed to just jump in and play with them. Opal is very good about using the dog door in her Foster Home.
Floyd is a bit taller than the average Basset but that doesn’t stop him from trying to curl up in his Foster Mom’s lap! He still has lots of puppy energy and behavior and he loves to play. Floyd is a bit smitten with Daisy. We’re sure Floyd will need another dog in the home he chooses to live in to help him be the best he can be! This lovable guy came to us with a warning that he is an "escape artist" so a very secure home will be a must for him. Because of his energy level, we would guess that cats could be a problem and he’s possibly too high energy for small kids, at least until he grows up a bit. Floyd is housetrained. (Floyd must have a home with a solid fence; no chain link.)
Our Boogie Boy has the moves and personality to live up to his name. He’s a boogie boy, lover, very animated, happy kind of guy. He likes people and other dogs but we don’t know about kids or cats, although, he probably likes them, too! This delightful five and a half year old is house trained. Boogie does have some health issues that UFBH will help clear up.
Stanley is a bit on the quiet side however he likes going to daycare and playing with the other dogs. Happy to please his people, this sweet five year old responds very well to directions. In a calmer setting (than the group home he is in), we think he would be very close to his person. Given Stanley’s laid back nature, we think he is probably going to be good with cats and kids but we won’t know for sure until he meets some. He is housetrained to use a dog door.
One of nine puppies; all of them playful and daring explorers! They love people, toys, and other dogs. They have LOTS of energy and enjoy a good wrestling match! Available to go to new homes no sooner than October 5, 2017.

Amos came to us from a local shelter so we don’t know what his life was like before he found his way to UFBH. We do know the lively foster home where he’s staying is stressful for him; he’ll be so much happier when he gets his own family. Amos enjoys the company of other dogs. He loves following his foster mom around the house.
A delightful (NAB Not A Basset) Veena is probably a bulldog mix (although we think she has the heart and personality of a Basset). She wants to dominate other dogs which makes her “dog aggressive.” She could be okay with another dog as long as the other is non-reactive. This eager-to-please little one is currently working with a trainer and learning not to dominate but will need a person/family that can continue to work with her and a home with no other dogs would be ideal. Veena LOVES people and will easily share her food or toys with a person. She also loves to cuddle and play with people. Veena is a short little lady and will need help getting her girlish figure back. Her new family will have to keep her on a diet as she has a tendency toward a weight problem.
Billy and Bob are just about the cutest guys, ever! Their doggie manners are superb after spending lots of time with the adult hounds in their foster home. Billy is the more outgoing of the two but they both love to play! Bob is a bit smaller at 18 lbs.; Billy is 22. It would be lovely if they could stay together; if not, they would definitely like to live in a home with another dog. The boys are about five months old. Their Mom was a Basset Hound and we’re sure their Dad was a really handsome hound!

Daisy is a very shy around people until she gets to know them. This cute, four year old loves playing with the others in her Foster Home and is especially fond of playing with Floyd. (They’d make a beautiful red and white pair!) This sweet young girl will do best with another dog in the home where she chooses to live. Like Floyd, her legs a bit longer than the average Basset Hound, but we think this just adds to Daisy’s charm!
Darla is the epitome of a perfect Basset Hound; loving, stubborn, cuddly, stubborn, selectively hard of hearing, lazy, stubborn, manipulative, sweet, soft and squishy, stubborn. I think you get the picture? Did we say she’s stubborn? Darla loves people, other dogs, and children. We have found the more stubborn hounds to have amazing personalities; just sayin’!
Emma has had her second heart worm treatment and in two months, she will be spayed. After that, we can see what else she needs. Emma is very sweet and loving but more reserved than Sunday. She seems to be housetrained. It is unknown if she is good with cats or kids but she did come from a home that had children. She likes going to daycare and is actually totally miffed if she's not allowed to go. Emma is bonded to Sunday (1073). They must be adopted together.

“This sweet, little Beagle mix is a joy to have in our home,” her foster mom tells us. Very sweet, house-trained, laid back, and a very sweet girl. (You get that she’s really sweet, right?) Tisa is very submissive; she was most likely abused in her past. She does get feisty and plays with toys and she also does well with other dogs. No birds though! At 25 pounds, she won’t take up much room and she’ll curl up on a dog bed at night.
