Bowzer is a delightfully calm gentleman hound. He enjoys playing with toys and mostly keeps to himself. Bowzer is a nice, quiet basset ...six years young. Bassets can live an average of 12 years, and I personally have been blessed to have most of the hounds that have come into our home live well into their teens. Picked up as a stray, his family never came looking for him. Do you think you might have room for him in your heart and home?
To my new forever family, my name is Lincoln, I am three years old. I was very ill with kennel cough when I was picked up from the shelter by UFBH. Since being rescued I have no more cough and I gained a little weight (not too much) as you can see. I'm a very well behaved 3 year old and I do like to play. My foster brother Tucker plays with me all the time and from what I understand he doesn't usually play with us younger boys. I learn very quickly and my foster mom has taught me many new rules. I don't jump on couches, beds etc. Please come and pick me up today. I promise I will always be a good boy.
AKA Taserman. Barney has quite a story. He has been in the care of UFBH for quite sometime, and we now feel he can be "Adoptable". Barney was a stray in a town in the mid-west. When animal control officers could not easily catch him, they tasered him. The rescue back there wanted him out of the area, so we agreed to take him. Barney was very shy and scared at first. He took a very long time to trust his foster mom, Carol. He finally started going to Old Farm doggie day care, and learned people were pretty nice, after all. He has now been placed with one of our other board members as a foster, and here he is! Barney holds a special place in our hearts, and after his not so great past, we want the best family ever for Barney. If you can give this little guy the future he deserves, give us a call.
My name is Bosley! I am handsome, mellow and so very sweet! School aged children are just right for me. I enjoy chewing on rawhides and playing with other dogs. I am potty trained and use the doggie door very well. Meet me and I will charm you with my good looks and we can be best friends forever!!
Hello there!! My name is Blue! I am a fun loving 2 year old boy. One of my favorite pastimes is to grab a fluffy toy and toss it around the backyard, or just run around with it in my mouth! I have lots of energy and love school aged kids. Please consider adopting me, I would really appreciate having a forever home and I promise I will be your friend forever!
My name is Coco! I may only be 40lbs, but I am full of personality and energy! My foster mom takes me for walks and to soccer games and I LOVE IT! I love the kids that I am staying with, they are 10 and 12. I have nice manners, I use the doggie door, listen well and get along with other dogs. Meet me and I will charm you! I will let you take me for a walk and then we can cuddle afterwards! Coco is a bassador, a chocolate lab/basset mix. Available now to foster. Available for adoption after 4/15 when spayed.
Darwin is a beautiful young boy. He does well with children and knows how to use the doggie door. He does well with dogs his size or bigger.
From Chloey's foster mom: Chloey is what I like to call a turn-key canine. Now that she realizes meals arrive on a twice daily schedule, counter surfing has greatly decreased. Couple of other things to note. She barked at our cats once or twice a day for several days. That seems to be tapering off, and they just stared at her when she barked. You'll want to have ample room in your bed for her, she's a snuggler. Though she lies very still. Very savvy using the doggie door, and loves to lie at my feet when I'm at the computer. Likes to play with toys. Oh, and good on leash!
Miss Daisy (Idaho) is such a mellow young girl. She is bound to flop over to let you rub her belly at any second! She is content just to be close to you and be petted. Please consider giving this very lovely young lady a forever home!
Jamie is a GORGEOUS young girl who is just as sweet as can be. She gets along well with other dogs and uses the doggie door like a pro. Meet her and you will fall in love!
Daisy is a beautiful well behaved lady. She gets along well with other dogs and would make a great addition to your family!
Winnie is an absolutely adorable little 2 year, 3 month old girl, emphasis on the little. Unlike the bear of similar name, she's not tubby or stuffed with fluff, but she does like to go on adventures. She's got plenty of energy for romping and playing and loves squeaky toys like Pooh loves honey. Potty trained and doggy-door familiar, she's perfect for a home with a nice yard to explore. She likes to have friends, and she's more than ready to stand up for herself if a Rabbit or a Tigger (or even a Piglet) decide to put up a fuss. When she finally runs out of energy, Winnie prefers to curl up on a comfy bed on the floor. Because of her short legs and small stature, hopping up onto couches and beds (not to mention climbing honey trees) is a bit of a trial-and-error pursuit. If you'd rather keep your furry companions at floor level, Winnie will be more than happy to oblige. For cuddly bed and sofa company, she'll need a ramp or some stairs to help her get up.
Ginger is a tiny little thing...but so soft and snuggly. When she first arrived, she was terrified. She kept hiding in a corner of the yard. She is still afraid of new people, but doing much better.
Lexie is a fun loving girl with a little longer legs who loves to snuggle. She also likes walks and is no slacker. Lexie is the first out the doggy door to greet me or say good-bye when I go to work. She gets along with other dogs, yet lets them know when she needs a little "me" time.
Mindy is a lovely 6yo lady. She loves to snuggle and has the cutest freckled belly you ever saw!!! Mindy is still just a bit plump. She loves walks and is a little on the slower pace trail, however, keeps up with the pack. Mindy is first at the bowl at dinner time, no need to call twice.
Johnny is an energetic, happy guy. He is very intelligent and learns quickly once he knows what is expected of him. He loves taking a long walk. He is crate trained and house trained, but would do best with a dog door, since he isn't really forceful about telling you when he needs to be let out. He rarely barks but doesn't like traveling in cars (he may cry if someone isn't at his side). He will do well with other dogs, but doesn't mind spending time alone. He will make you laugh daily (he always does something new). He needs a home with lots of love.
NAB is Not a Basset. The shelter had this boy listed as a basset/black lab mix,and his face looked it. But while he is a hound/lab mix, he is not basset. The volunteer who drove 400 miles round trip to get him, took him anyway. He was in a remote area and the chance of him getting adopted is much better here. He has long legs and is going to be a big, beautiful boy. He loves to play with other dogs and just a great guy.
