Cassius Clay is an older gentleman with a heart as big as his name. This chill, sun-loving cat has perfected the art of lounging — whether it's soaking up rays by the window or curling up in a cozy corner for a long nap. He’s calm, dignified, and just looking for a peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort. Cassius gets along with other mellow, respectful cats who understand his need for space and serenity. He’s not into drama — just naps, snacks, and sunshine.

Cassius is diabetic, so he’ll need a consistent routine and regular monitoring, but don’t let that scare you — he’s a champ when it comes to his care, and the love you’ll get in return is more than worth it. A huge part of GusGus’s confidence comes from his best buddy Nero. The two have become quick friends and provide each other with comfort, security, and companionship. Harbor is a beautiful brown tiger tabby with soulful eyes and a gentle, sensitive nature. She’s a bit of a shy girl who prefers to take her time getting to know new people. She has made amazing progress since arriving at HART, and has even become a greeter in her room.

While Harbor isn’t outwardly affectionate with people right away, she can be gently encouraged with a Churu treat, which she happily accepts as a way to build trust and connection. Her favorite thing ever is to be active and play! She is an expert laser-pointer hunter and will impress you with her moves.

She has a special affinity for older children and is very interested in them, often choosing to be nearby. Harbor can match their calmer, respectful energy in a way that helps her feel comfortable and engaged. She does well with other cats and particularly enjoys the company of calm cats.

One of Harbor’s favorite comforts is a really soft, fuzzy blanket - give her a cozy place to burrow, and you’ll quickly see her relax and settle in. Harbor would thrive in a quiet, patient home with older kids or adults who will allow her the time she needs to acclimate and build confidence. She is not on any medications and simply needs a calm environment, understanding, and consistency to truly blossom.

This special lady is a true survivor. She has survived a double mastectomy and has a clean bill of health. She is not a fan of lots of activity and is looking for a quiet home to become a solar powered cat.

Sweet Inky absolutely adores her pets and will happily flip over to show off her soft little belly for more rubs! She loves to snuggle right into your hand while singing her loudest, happiest purr songs.

Inky came to us with a behavioral issue which we are trying to treat with medication. She is currently on medication for urinating on fabrics in her previous home. Jayden is a beautiful 10-year-old classic brown tabby who came to HART from a rescue partner here in Maine in the winter of 2022. While we don’t know much about her life before arriving at the shelter or how many of her nine lives she may have already used, Jayden came to us very under-socialized and fearful of people.

Over time, she has made wonderful progress thanks to the patience and dedication of our Shy Angels Socialization Program volunteers, who have helped her build confidence and trust at her own pace. Jayden is very playful and enjoys interactive toys. With staff and volunteers she knows well, she has begun to show her affectionate side and has even been known to give tiny kisses to her favorite people, including our Medical Manager. She came to HART from our rescue partner in Tennessee, and raised a litter of kittens who were all adopted. She’s ready to shine in her own spotlight and find her forever home.

Marilyn Monroe is a wonderful kitty with a goofy personality, but you have to put in the work first! Marilyn prefers to make friends slowly and make sure the people she is with will give her love! And she'll let you know when she's done with petting. Marilyn would do best in an experienced, cat savvy home with people who can patiently acclimate her to the household.

Like any true celebrity, she only eats the finest of foods and is currently eating a limited ingredient diet of duck and green pea. We tell her it's because she's special, but really it’s to help keep her allergies and medical conditions in check. Marilyn has Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex and chronic chin acne. She is a diva when it comes to treating her so we recommend that you have experience with spicy cats. We will require that her adopters have an established veterinarian relationship.

This kitty came to us in the summer of 2024 from one of our partner rescues here in Maine. He was transferred to HART because he is diabetic, and we have a lot of experience with successfully caring for diabetic cats.

Napoleon looks a little worse for the wear due to chronic pancreatitis. We have him on some medications for being a senior kitty and to help manage his chronic pancreatitis. He is one of the easiest boys to medicate in the shelter. He just wants love!

His diabetes is currently managed with a low-carb diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate) and twice-daily insulin injections. We will require that his adopter has a well-established relationship with a veterinarian, because we are committed to the health and happiness of Napoleon and his new guardians even after they leave our shelter. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopter training in the care of a diabetic cat (it’s easier than you think!), along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a generous starter amount of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.

Nero is a striking, big black “panther” boy with a quiet presence and soulful eyes. When he first arrived at HART, he was very scared and undersocialized, unsure of the world around him. Thanks to the gentle dedication of our Shy Angels Socialization Team, Nero has been learning that humans aren’t so scary after all, building trust day by day and showing us the sweet cat that’s been there all along.

A big part of Nero’s journey at HART has been meeting his best friends, GusGus and Regina. He can often be found curled up together with one of them - somehow fitting themselves into the tiniest box imaginable for a cozy nap (we’re still not sure how they manage it!). Because of his close connection to both of them, Nero should be adopted with one of them so they can continue to give each other comfort and confidence.

As Nero has grown more secure, his playful side has blossomed. He loves chasing a laser pointer, batting at a Cat Dancer toy, and happily enjoying a Churu treat while he builds trust with his people. Nero is also friendly with other cats and enjoys their company, often coexisting calmly and comfortably in his space.

Nutmeg is a very unique senior lady. She has a set of lungs on her that she is very willing to use when someone does not do something to her liking.

Nutmeg is what we fondly call "spicy". She does not want to be held, but does want to be petted. She wants to be in the sunshine and refuses to share her sunbeam with other cats. Olson is a handsome, solid-black house panther who came to HART all the way from Tennessee. This energetic boy has happily turned Room 3 into his personal playground! He loves to play, chat with visitors, and soak up attention. In fact, Olson gets so happy when he's being petted that he sometimes drools!

Olson can be a little too enthusiastic with other cats and sometimes can be a bully - he's been doing well since he's been at HART, but we think he would likely do best as an only cat and in a home without children.

Olson is FIV+, but FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives with regular veterinary care and can safely live with other cats. He also takes medication to help manage stress-related behaviors and will go home with his medication so his adopter can discuss a long-term plan with their veterinarian.

Ozzie is a large, floofy, sweet cat. He currently finds the world a little overwhelming. Right now, he is not the world's most confident cat. He is timid and wants someone to reassure him that life is okay. But, at only 3 years old, he has lots of time to grow into his confidence!

He does enjoy playing with wand toys, though he can be a bit hesitant at first. He also gets along with chill cats, and has even made a friend in his room.

Some things to know about Oz:

- Ozzie did have some urinary crystals and some behavioral issues that are most likely related to stress in his life when he arrived at HART.
- We have switched him to our wet food-only diet and placed on some medication to help him relax.
- He will need a home where he can feel confident and safe. This means no homes with lots of activity or changing variables.

Pun’kin needs an experienced, patient adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to settle into a new environment. Transitions can be overwhelming for him, and he’ll do best in a calm, adult-only home where he can adjust at his own pace. With continued love and the kind of thoughtful work we practice in the Shy Angels program, we truly believe Pun’kin will thrive — and may even become a loyal little sidekick.

Pun’kin does have early kidney disease, which is being managed very well with a renal diet. He’s feeling good and doing wonderfully with this support. He also gets along with other cats, and when the shelter is quiet at night, we’ve seen his playful side come out- batting a ball or chasing a toy mouse around the room when he thinks no one is watching.

This sweet boy has come so far, and he’s ready for someone who sees his potential and is willing to continue the journey with him.

Qi (pronounced CHI) is a wonderful cat brimming with personality, affection and cuddles! At 10 years old he knows what he likes and that is: his best friend Kit, being picked up and held like a baby, gentle pets, room to play and look out windows.

Qi has some sensitivities that we believe are food related. We have him on oral medication to help him stay comfortable and happy. We believe that he requires a special low-allergen diet.

Our medical team will require that you have an established veterinary relationship for his adoption due to his medications requirement.

Qi and Kit are bonded and must go home together, but they're willing to add a human or two to their bond, don't worry. They also don't mind other cats.

Regina is an adorable little cow kitty with the sweetest petite frame and a personality all her own. With her classic black-and-white markings and expressive eyes, she may look dainty, but she has a quiet strength and gentle sensitivity that make her truly special.

When Regina first arrived at HART, she was very scared and undersocialized, unsure of the big world around her. With time, patience, and the loving support of our Shy Angels Socialization Team, she has been learning what it feels like to be safe and beginning to trust the people around her.

Regina is reserved by nature, but beneath that cautious exterior is a playful, curious girl who is blossoming more each day. She loves to chase a laser pointer, bat at a Cat Dancer toy, and happily enjoy a Churu treat while building positive connections with her people. Watching her confidence grow through small but meaningful steps has been such a joy. You can sometimes find her in the highest spot in room 3 - she is quite the acrobat!

Regina arrived at HART alongside her friends Harbor and Nero. She shares a friendship with the two. You can often find her curling up with either of them in the same bed for naps and quiet companionship. Because of their close bond, we would love to see her go home with one of them. She does well with other cats and can peacefully coexist with feline friends, but she especially relies on Harbor’s steady presence to help her feel secure and brave.

Regina would thrive in a quiet, patient home with adults or older children who understand shy kitties and are willing to let her progress at her own pace. She will need time, consistency, and gentle encouragement, but with kindness and a calm environment, we truly believe Regina will continue to flourish and reveal more of her sweet, playful spirit.

Rikki is phenomenal. There, that’s the whole bio!

This senior brown tabby girl has an incredible purr, the cutest face in the world, and quite the need for pets. Rikki loves human attention and starts purring if you merely smile at her. She has been through a lot in her long life and is looking for someone to be her companion through her final years. Because Rikki is older, we do require that she go to a home with adopters who are experienced cat guardians and who have an established relationship with a veterinarian.

Rikki does have some medical concerns that we are monitoring. Our adoption and medical team can discuss her concerns with you.

Rikki is in foster care and not at the shelter.

She really needs a special home that will give her the best days to spend her retirement.

Sawyer is newer to our diabetic crew at HART. He transferred from another shelter that was not equipped to manage a diabetic. Sawyer does not realize that he has any medical conditions. He really just wants to be loved on.

Sawyer's condition is managed with a low-carbohydrate diet and twice-daily insulin injections. His adopter will need to be experienced with an established relationship with a veterinarian, and HART's Medical Team will provide training, a blood glucose testing kit, insulin, supplies, and just about everything you'll need to make the transition home as smooth as possible.

Our veterinarians want to make sure that we let all of our diabetic homes know that the condition is not as scary as people believe and that it is actually quite easy to manage. Sawyer is willing to show you how easy being a diabetic is.

Sawyer is tolerating the other cats in the room but has not found his best bud quite yet.

Yam (aka Yammy Yams) is one awesome (and incredibly handsome!) boy with a sweet personality that's impossible not to love. He's always happy to come over for pets and attention, loves being brushed, never turns down a Churu treat, and has a great time chasing interactive toys. He's also quite the ladies' man, often surrounded by the female cats in his room (we can't blame them... have you seen him?).

While Yam is friendly and affectionate, he's also a sensitive guy who is still building his confidence. In new situations, he can be a little cautious, and like many cats, he can become overstimulated if the petting goes on a little too long. When that happens, he may give a gentle nip to let you know he's had enough. Thanks to the patience and dedication of our Shy Angels Socialization Team, he's making wonderful progress learning more appropriate ways to communicate his boundaries, and we're so proud of how far he's come.

Yam would do best in a calm, child-free, dog-free home with experienced adopters who understand cat body language and appreciate that patience and consistency help sensitive cats thrive. In return, you'll gain a wonderful companion with so much love to give. With someone who respects his boundaries and allows him to continue growing at his own pace, we know Yam will blossom into an incredible lifelong friend.
